Arena 1992–1995
In 1992 Grant embarked on his first major construction project. He was commissioned to follow the building of the 19,000-seater indoor arena at Victoria Station.
At this time the city was bidding for the 2000 Olympic Games in which the arena would have been a significant venue. Periodically during the construction, groups of International Olympic Committee members toured the site.
Grant’s images recorded the demolition of the original station platforms and good yard and the construction of a major venue above ‘live’ railway lines. The resulting book, Arena!, was published in 1995.
