Imperial War Museum North 2000-2002
Built on the opposite bank to The Lowry at Salford Quays, the Imperial War Museum North is Daniel Libeskind’s first permanent building in the UK.
It was a truly fascinating building to document. I felt very fortunate to have won the commission to photograph the construction of Libeskind's first UK project. As part of the commission I made hours of sound recordings on the site and interviewed workers, engineers, architects, and specialist sub-contractors. It was the first time I had experimented with sound and, with Andrew Revell, produced a soundtrack that accompanied a slideshow projected onto the gallery walls.

Slideshow production by Richard Weltman; soundtrack by Andrew Revell
