For the last few years I’ve been running urban sketching courses for beginners. It’s a gentle step-by-step approach to putting pen to paper and building up the courage to go out there and capture the urban scene. It’s a lot of fun.
For individuals I organise two or three each year, usually in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, and advertise then on my social platforms. If you’re interested you can email me to be informed when the next one is happening.
I also run them for organisations. My recent clients have included The National Trust in Manchester, Homes England, Buttress Architects, Civic Engineers and others. I can tailor a workshop to meet requirements.
‘What a fantastic day! This was a birthday present and I think it was the best birthday present I’ve had, except of course the Scalextic when I was 10 years old!
Not only was I able to sketch street scenes that were recognisable but your encouragement and praise for everyone in the group soon made us lose any sense of self consciousness. Thank you to a great artist and a great tutor.’ Steve
‘I really enjoyed the experience and appreciated the way you managed to circulate around us all, giving a positive and encouraging critique of our efforts and adding the relevant information to help us progress. It also have me the confidence and motivation to get out and get drawing.’ Ernie
with thanks to Fiona Finchett for some of these images.
